About Preserving Design

Preserving Design is an ongoing (2021–) research project by Peter Ström, graphic / web designer / founding partner at Konst & Teknik and senior lecturer at Beckmans College of Design, where Peter looks into best practices on preservation and archiving of and thinking about digital artifacts within art, design and cultural production.

About preserving•design

This website is a research hub for the project, where Peter collects and shares thoughts, files and ideas of his research. It is live coded in HTML, CSS and a snippet of JS straight from the code editor without a CMS (all for future accessibility), published via Dropbox and Site44.com, and contains (most likely) broken links, broken thoughts and broken language. Thanks to the Plash OSX app, it is used as the desktop in Peters computer, thus functioning as local yet public post-it notes for the project.

It is mainly in English but sometimes in Swedish, and its updates can only be accessed via the reload button in the browser (no RSS, no newsletter). This may or may not change over time.
